Catherine Evans, MD a family physician from Wheeling, WV was the recipient of the West Virginia Academy of Family Physicians highest award – Family Doctor of the Year for 2014. The award was presented by Edward Robert Marks, MD during the West Virginia Academy of Family Physicians (WVAFP) 62nd Annual Scientific Assembly held on April 4th 2014 at the Embassy Suites in Charleston, WV.
The Family Doctor of the Year Award honors an outstanding, community-minded family physician that provides compassionate, comprehensive care. Candidates are nominated for their service as role models, professionally and personally, in their communities, to other healthcare professionals, physicians in training and medical staff.
Dr. Evans received a degree in medical technology from West Liberty State College. She earned her doctor of medicine degree at West Virginia University and completed at Family Medicine Residency at Wheeling Hospital. She is a faculty member of the Family Medicine Residency program at Wheeling Hospital and serves as Director of The Family Medicine Center clinic at the residency. Her practice has been integral to the care of women and children, in the Wheeling area.
